A member of YES! Hotels group, NEW Hotel opened its doors on in July 2011 fully encapsulating the YES! Hotels philosophy - Young, Enthusiastic and Seductive. NEW hotel is located in the heart of Athens within walking distance from the city’s main attractions. This 79-room and suites establishment is one of the city’s finest examples of modern architecture. The interiors are simply outstanding, the unusual custom-made furniture and handmade fixtures make guests feel and breathe in a major art installation. An entirely NEW approach with energetic hospitality and seductive customer-centred services, NEW hotel is the first ever hotel project of award winning designer duo, Fernando and Humberto Campana, who were commissioned for their eco-friendly ethos, their love for contemporary materials and their sensitivity to local culture. This ethos is apparent in every aspect of NEW Hotel’s design, allowing it to blend in seamlessly with the neighborhood in which it stands, honoring its surroundings like no other city hotel in Athens.

Located on Filellinon Street, next to Constitution Square (Syntagma Square), the hotel is perfectly positioned as a base for exploring sights of Athens, including the ruins of Plaka, the Acropolis hill and its museum, the stylish boutique shopping district of Kolonaki and the bustling business zone.

Situated in the former Olympic Palace Hotel, NEW Hotel encompasses the heritage of its past by using recycled parts of the old hotel and reinterpreted local materials to create a complete work of art, making NEW Hotel the one and only contemporary boutique hotel in the city of Athens. The old elements of the past are cleverly contrasted by a blend of new modern art, sculpture and design on the inside.

NEW Hotel celebrates its incredible location through its designers. The Campanas worked together with local architecture students from the University of Thessaly to combine design and culture, which collide on every floor. Each of the 79 bedrooms emulate one of three concepts stemming from Greek culture, with postcards, local Athenian sculptures and shadow puppets, and custom-made furniture and fixtures are found throughout, making guests feel as though they are living in a major art installation.

Dining

The Campana's influence extends to NEW Taste the restaurant. Located on the ground floor, it is based on the iconic Favela Chair, with columns covered in long narrow strips of wood, reminiscent of the favelas in Brazil, and pieces of furniture from the old Olympic hotel. The all-day restaurant serves a menu based on simple dishes from the Mediterranean, cooked using the finest and freshest produce, a popular place for guests and Athenians alike. On the 7th floor of the hotel, the Art Lounge, serves exceptional food and cocktails, topped off with panoramic views of Athens.

NEW Sense is NEW Hotel’s Gym and Wellness Club, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of bustling Athens. New Sense houses a Jacuzzi, steam bath and a fully stocked fitness room with brand new equipment, open round the clock.

About NEW Hotel
Located between the traditional district of Plaka with its ancient Roman ruins and the more contemporary Kolonaki neighbourhood with its modern vibe, galleries and fashion boutiques, NEW Hotel is a bridge between the old and the new. This 79-room & suite design project was led by the award-winning designer duo, Fernando and Humberto Campana in partnership with architectural students from the local University of Thessaly. Working together as a team, they set up a workshop inside the hotel, reinterpreting traditional objects of popular culture identified with the neighbourhood and recreating them into three contemporary, artistic room concepts. Historic postcards of Athens, traditional "evil eye" charms and figures of shadow puppet theatre "Karagiozis" from local folklore were given a modern design twist, creating Young, Enthusiastic and Seductive contemporary spaces. The team also focused on restoring the property’s original features, ‘upcycling’ abandoned furniture into something more seductive, more modern and more daring. Using neglected fixtures and furnishings from the previous hotel, the team reworked them into modern pieces, transforming the old and derelict into the contemporary and luxurious. Old wooden pieces of furniture were broken up to create striking art installations in the lobby, the former hotel logo was taken apart to generate individual side tables for the bar and disused chairs and objects were upcycled to become iconic works such as the Tomato, Ladder and Newspaper Chair.
