ΠΑΡΝΑΣΣΟΣ (Αρχαία πόλη) ΤΟΥΡΚΙΑ
Parnassus. (Parnassos) a town in the northern part of Cappadocia, on the right bank of the Halys, and on or near a hill, to which it owed its name, on the road between Ancyra and Archelais, about 63 miles west of the latter town. (Polyb. xxv. 4; It. Ant. pp. 144, 206; It. Hieros. p. 576; Geogr. Sacr. p. 255.)
The site is a large mound in the hills between the Halys and L. Tatta in the NW corner of Cappadocia. A small town, it was a meeting place of Eumenes and Attalos from Galatia and Ariarathes from Cappadocia in 180 B.C. for their campaign against Pharnaces of Pontos (Polyb. 24.14.8-9). Important junction of roads NW to Ankyra S to Archelais via Nitalis (Ortakoy?) and E via Mocissos (Kirsehir?) to Caesarea Mazaca.
