Creusa (Kreousa), a daughter of Oceanus and Ge. She was a Naid, and became by Peneius the mother of Hypseus, king of the Lapithae, and of Stilbe. (Pind. Pyth. ix. 30; Diod. iv. 69)
Daphne. The daughter of the rivergod Peneus, in Thessaly, pursued
by Apollo, who was charmed by her beauty; but as she was on the point of being
overtaken by him, she prayed for aid, and was metamorphosed into a laurel-tree
(daphne), which became in consequence the favourite tree of Apollo.
