FANE (Ancient city) CHIOS
Strabo's description commences on the east side of the island, where
the chief town, Chios, was situated, which had a harbour capable of holding 80
ships. His periplus is southwards. He next mentions the Posidium, now Cape Mastico,
the southern point of the island; then Phanae (Thuc. viii. 24), where there was
a deep recess, a temple of Apollo, and a grove of palm-trees. There was also a
point or headland at Phanae (Steph. s. v. Phanai), which Ptolemy also mentions
under the name Phanaea, Livy (xliv. 28) mentions the Promontorium Phanae as a
convenient, place to sail from to Macedonia. It seems to correspond to Port Mesta,
on the western coast...

The southern point of the island of Chios, celebrated for its temple of Apollo and for its excellent wine.
EMBORIOS (Port) CHIOS
Emborios is a unique place of Chios and Greece in general. The port of Emborios, which is 5 kilometers from the central road of the southern villages, was a trading center in Antiquity which is designated by its name. There was the settlement of Lefkonio (3,000 BC), traces of which were only recently found during excavations and are currently exhibited in the Archeological Museum of Chios. In this small, picturesque and historical port of Emborios, restaurants, taverns, mini market and rooms are available for quiet and relaxing vacations.

KALAMOTI (Small town) CHIOS
It is a traditional village comprised of two story stone houses and beautifully carved doors. The village has approximately 850 inhabitants who are mainly occupied with the cultivation of fragrant mastic and horticulture in the fertile plain which extends towards Komi.
KOMI (Settlement) CHIOS
Komi is located 4 kilometers south of the village of Kalamoti and is amongst the
loveliest beaches of Chios. Its shallow, warm waters and fine sandy shores are
suitable for beach games and sunbathing. There are apartments, rooms to let, restaurants,
taverns, bars and discos available to meet all visitors' interests. The permanent
residents of Komi are few and occupy their time with fishing and horticulture.
The majority of Kalamoti's residents live in Komi during the summer.
