The noteworthy church of Agios Dimitrios in Paleros on the foot of
the mountain "Serekas", which was built in the 16th century. The nave
is a single-circular archery and tiled roof. The church of Agios Dimitrios was
"stavropigiaki", which means that it was directed by the Patriarchate.
It played an important role during the Turkish domination as it had a section
for women in childbed and a poor-house for the homeless. The church was decorated
but the hagiographies have been destroyed partly due to fire and dampness.
