The church of Christ, as it is known, was built in 1861 and since then dominates at the Pothia’s dock. The famous sculptor Giannoulis Halepas has crafted the great aesthetic and historic value reredos, which is also decorated by hagiographies of local artists G. Alachouzou & S. Magli. The Bishop’s Throne is equally impressive.

On a hill over the Pothia port in Kalymnos islnd, with a splendid panoramic view of the town, there is the women Monastery of Agii Pantes or as it is widely known of Agios Savvas, which was established in 1952.
