Britomartis

Britomartis (the Cretan divinity of hunters and fishermen) was fond of solitude, and had vowed to live in perpetual maidenhood. From Phoenicia (for this tradition calls her mother Carme, a daughter of Phoenix) she went to Argos, to the daughters of Erasinus.
