Neo Horio or Niohorio is 24km from Chania, following the Chania -
Kolimbari road and turning south before the Tavronitis bridge. The village has
an engaging Byzantine church.

Neo Chorio has an engaging Byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos with frescoes.Among them are the paintings of the donor of the church. He is represented in a garden with the church in his hand. His hair is red-blond and his beard grey. He wears a black dress that comes to his knees. He has very narrow shoes of the same colour and on his head he wears a beret.
PLATANES (Settlement) VOUKOLIES
Platanias is a village about 10 km's west from Chania, following the road towards Kissamos. It is situated by the mouth of the homonymous river Platanias (Iardanos river, Homer). At the river's shore there are many plane trees -platania - which explains the name of the village. In the Venetian inventories PLATANIAS is mentioned as Platanea and Pirgho Platanea, there were possibly two different settlements. Originally the village was built amphitheatrically on a high, rocky place with picturesque houses. Now it has spread to the sea-side.
