Amarynthus (Amarunphos: Eth. Amarunphios, Amarusios), a town upon the coast of Euboea, only 7 stadia from Eretria, to which it belonged. It possessed a celebrated temple of Artemis, who was hence called Amarynthia or Amarysia, amid in whose honour there was a festival of this name celebrated, both in Eutboea and Attica.
