The Municipality of Finika was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 10 Municipal Districts, the former communities of:
1. Agios Vassilios,
2. Agios Ioannis,
3. Angousseliana,
4. Assomatos,
5. Koxare,
6. Lefkogia,
7. Mariou,
8. Myrthios,
9. Rodakinon,
10. Sellia.
Municipality seat is Plakias, village of Sellia, municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 3018 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
