The Municipality of Paramythia was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 23 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of

and the former communities of:

5. Zervochorion,
6. Kallithea,
7. Karvounarion,
8. Kariotion,
9. Krystalopigi,

15. Petrovitsa,
16. Plakoti,
17. Polydrosson,

Municipality seat is Paramythia, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 8626 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
