The Municipality of Filiata was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 42 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of Filiata and the former communities of: 1. Agios Nikolaos, 2. Agii Pantes, 3. Aetos, 4. Ambelon, 5. Anavryton, 6. Achladea, 7. Vavourion, 8. Vryssella, 9. Gardikion (Agios Georgios), 10. Giromerion, 11. Gola, 12. Kallithea, 13. Kato Xechoron, 14. Keramitsa, 15. Kerassochorion, 16. Kefalochorion, 17. Kokinia, 18. Kokinolitharion, 19. Kouremadion, 20. Kryonerion, 21. Kyparisson, 22. Leptokarya, 23. Lia, 24. Lista, 25. Malounion, 26. Milea, 27. Xechoron, 28. Paleoklission, 29. Paleochorion, 30. Palambas, 31. Plession, 32. Platanos, 33. Pigadoulia, 34. Raveni, 35. Rizon, 36. Sideri, 37. Trikoryfon, 38. Tsamadas, 39. Faneromeni, 40. Finikion, 41. Charavgi. Municipality seat is Filiates, small town of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 9758 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
