The Municipality of Efpalion was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 16 Municipal Districts, the former communities of:
1. Drossaton,
2. Efpalion,
3. Kambos,
4. Kastrakion,
5. Klima Efpaliou,
6. Malamata,
7. Managouli,
8. Marathias,
9. Monastirakion,
10. Paleoxarion,
11. Potidania,
12. Pyrgos,
13. Sergoula,
14. Tichion,
15. Trikorfon,
16. Filothei.
Municipality seat is Efpalio, village of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 5694 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
