Municipality of Komotini

The Municipality of Komotini was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 12 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of:
1. Komotini,
the former communities of:
1. Thrylorion,
2. Kalchas,
3. Karydia,
4. Pandrossos
and the settlements of:
1. Anthochorion of the former community of Aratos,
2. Gratini, of the former community of Gratini,
3. Itea,
4. Kikidion,
5. Kosmion, of the former community of Kosmion,
6. Sidirades,
7. Stylarion, of the former community of Gratini.
Municipality seat is Komotini, city of the homonymous municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 45934 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
