The Municipality of Akrites was founded by Law 2539/1997 (Kapodistria Plan), consists of 2 Municipal Districts, the former municipality of
1. Akrites
and the settlement of:
1. Polyanemon, of the former community of Agia Kyriaki.
Municipality seat is Dipotamia, village of Akrites municipal district. The first authorities were elected in October 1998. The population was 1003 inhabitants, according to the 1991 census.
