VIKOS (Settlement) KENTRIKO ZAGORI
The National Park of Vikos-Aoos (1973) was founded with the aim to
protect the rich wild nature that is widespread from Vikos ravine (Voidomatis
branch) to Vikos gorge of the main Aoos
river and the in-between mountainous area of Timfi
(Gamila, 2,491 m height).
The intense vertical geological partition of the area and the big
supersea width creates a unique ecosystems that host a lot of interesting species
of flora and fauna. All these give the Park the character of a natural botanical
and zoological garden.
