Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Collection of Naousa

  The Collection is housed in the 17th century monastery of Agios Athanasios, which is located at the western entrance of Naousa. It includes over one hundred portable icons dated between the 15th and 19th centuries, in their majority made by local workshops. The exhibits have been gathered mainly from the numerous monasteries and churches of the island. The collection also includes ecclesiastical vessels, fragments of frescoes, copper engravings and parts of iconostaseis.
  Among the most notable icons of the exhibition are:

• Apokathelosis (The Descent from the Cross). 16th century
• Christos Pantokrator (Christ Almighty). 18th century
• Panagia Odigitra. 18th century
