The aim of the Art of Silk Museum is to promote and preserve the rich local tradition in silk weaving and production. Housed in a neoclassical renovated building, the original exhibits, combined with the latest technology, take the visitor, step by step, on a journey as unique as that of silk itself.
Visitors will be able to get a taste of the stages of silk production, such as reeling, yarn processing and weaving. Alongside the exhibits there are videos demonstrating the various stages in the manufacture of silk, from sericulture (the rearing of silkworms) to the finished product.
The Art of Silk Museum also hosts exhibitions and events related to the field of arts and culture.
The museum is equipped with a unique electronic multilingual guide and may offer special tours for groups and educational programmes for schools in its especially arranged premises.
The Museum Shop offers a wide selection of silk items from the Tsiakiris Silk House Collection, as well as various local traditional products.
The Art of Silk Museum has full access for the disabled throughout, with entrance ramps, an elevator to the first floor and specialised toilet facilities.
