Marble, larger than life
statue
of a bull (length: 3.28 m., preserved height: 1.30 m.) belonging to a funerary
monument of the 4th century BC. The animal is represented standing, with the head bent, in an attacking position. The lower part of the legs, below the knees, and the horns are missing.
The statue was raised from the sea in the harbour of
Oreoi,
in 1965. In 1966 it was erected on a pedestal at the square of the town, near the beach, and in 1993 it was protected under a wooden, tiled roof.
