European Association of Historic Towns and Regions

The association brings together networks and associations of historic towns from across Europe. Its aim is to promote the interests of historic towns and regions by assisting with the setting-up of national associations in countries where they do not yet exist, sharing experience and good practice on urban conservation and management of cultural heritage, seeking to ensure that policy-making bodies recognise and reflect the specific needs and interests of historic towns and their inhabitants, and raising public awareness about the importance and value of Europe’s cultural heritage.
