The museum contains finds from the district of Aetoloacarnania, ranging
from the Prehistoric to the Roman periods. It was erected in 1960 and is a donation
of the Papastratos brothers.
The most important items of the exhibition are:
- Mycenaean one-handled squat jug decorated with cross-hatched loops and flowers.
It was found at Aghios Elias, in the vicinity of Messolongi and dates to the second half of the 15th century BC (LH IIB).
- Marble corner acroterion from the Heroon of Alyzia, dated to the 2nd century AD.
- Protome of Herakles from the
Heroon of Calydon.
Possibly a copy of an original statue dated to the 4th century BC.
- Protome of Eros from the Heroon of Calydon.
- Protome of Aphrodite "armata" from the Heroon of Calydon.It reminds the type of statue introduced by Timotheos.
- Head of Zeus from the Heroon of Calydon.
- Protome of Meleagros from the Heroon of Calydon.
- Stone door from the burial chamber of the Heroon of Calydon. It imitates a wooden door with bronze hinges.
- Painted clay sima bearing representations of Nikae on chariots. From the
Laphrion at Calydon.
- Front surface of a cover-tile in the shape of a female head, from the Laphrion at Calydon.
