History
Back in 1990, Anastasios Margetis began to cultivate small vineyard plots in Megara, Attica, aiming to produce wines in a small underground space of his family home. His vision was for the Megara vineyard to be utilized, as it was blessed with the region’s unique microclimate and known for its potential to produce exceptionally high-quality wines. Guided by the first production of 4,000 liters, the journey into the world of wine began.
In 2010, the management of the winery was taken over by Anastasios’ children, Nikos and Antonis. Having grown up in the winery and alongside their studies, they brought fresh energy and momentum, carrying out and faithfully following a dynamic, long-term plan to this day. The goal is for high-quality wines to be created at competitive prices while actively and consistently supporting sustainable cultivation. Great importance is placed on the continuous education and development of the company’s workforce to ensure that evolving consumer demands are swiftly monitored and implemented.
Vineyards
The production capacity of the privately-owned vineyard is not sufficient to cover the continuous expansion of the sales network. To meet this need, a network of collaborating producers has been established, all sharing the same vision and goals: the production of high-quality wines with absolute respect for the environment. These producers operate under the full guidance and supervision of the agronomist-oenologist to ensure complete control of the production process, from the vineyard to the glass.
Winery
The facilities of MARGETIS WINES have been located at the 3rd km of Megara-Alepochori Avenue since 1992. The privately owned 700 sq.m. building houses the grape reception, winemaking, bottling, and storage areas, as well as the retail outlet, where both professionals and private wine lovers can collect the products. The constant need to increase production capacity, along with the adoption of more gentle and less interventionist methods in grape processing and winemaking, makes the continuous modernization of the mechanical equipment necessary—a plan that is faithfully followed according to the strategic design.
