The picturesque beach of Bourtzi got its name from the large fortress, built by the Venetians and used also by the Turks to control the straits of the
Southern Evian Gulf, so that pirates could pass to and from
Chalkida. The beach is not as popular for swimming as are the taverns which will give you a taste of fresh Evian, fish.
