The Bee Museum on the island of Rhodes is the unique museum for beekeeping and natural history of bee in Greece and among the most important of its kind worldwide.
A visit to the museum offers an insight to the amazing world of bees through transparent beehives, which allow visitors to closely observe the insects’ daily life and their admirable ways of interaction and social behaviour.
Moreover, a comprehensive collection of exhibits, combined with audio-visual displays, presents the development of beekeeping methods and tools from about 200 years ago to date. Thus, visitors will have the chance to learn about the types of beehives and the ways of handling them, as well as about honey extraction and production of wax, pollen, royal jelly and propolis.
In addition, guided tours to the modern production unit and educational programs for school groups are available by appointment.
Museum facilities include indoor and outdoor refreshment areas, playground and lawn, as well as convenient parking. There is also a selling point of bee natural products and beekeeping equipment.
Situated on the Faliraki - Airport Avenue, the Bee Museum is within easy access from the airport and the city of Rhodes, and definitely a must-see if you are visiting the island.
