The Kanavi valley, between the mountains of Spileo & Lykotrypa, ends in a big gorge, called Portitsa. In front of the oblong mouth of the gorge is the stone bridge of Portitsa, the only land passage between the Spileo and the Monachiti .
The river passes under the arch of the bridge is the Venetikos, a tributary of Aliakmonas river, who is the longest river ( 297 km) in Greece .
The construction of the bridge was on 1743 and according to sources it was built with offers from the Monastery of the Spileo. It’s a double-arched bridge with a total length of 34 m,width of 2.70 m and the total height reaches 7.80 m.
