The
Sanctuary of the local deity Despoina, constitutes one of the most important
sacred places of
Ancient Arcadia.
Its acme lasted until the end of the Roman period.
Excavations were conducted in the last century by the Greek Archaeological
Society under the direction of Konstantinos Kourouniotis. The small e211em02.txt
local museum g211em02.txt on the site was also founded at that time.
